It is no secret that God blessed you with your child(ren) for a particular reason. He could have chosen any woman in the world, but He specifically chose you and that makes you very special. Raising a child or children is not an easy task least of all when youre doing it independently. However, the blessings that come with raising children is more beautiful than the struggle or the challenges.
Now, how can you ensure that you are helping your child(ren) to thrive and live a fruitful life?
1. Talk to them about God and teach them His ways.
This is a very important step because in order for them to know God and have a relationship with Him, they will need to know;
A. Who He is.
B. Why He is so important.
C. What He has done.
D. What He does.
E. What He will do.
Once they know who He is, where He came from and the significance, they will understand why it is important to have a relationship with Him. I also believe it will encourage them to live a life that is pleasing to Him. They will also be able to develop the ability to discern to know what is right from wrong before making decisions as they will know doing something such as lying will displease God.
2. Encourage them to know God.
Knowing God will help them to establish a personal relationship with Him. One where they know no matter what they have a Father in heaven who loves them more than anything. Psalm 139 is a great starting point when explaining how much God loves them. It has many different themes; we learn that:
A. God is Omnipresent because He can be present everywhere all at once, He doesn't have to leave to go somewhere else.
B. God is also Omniscient because He is all knowing, we cannot hide anything from Him. He knows everything about us.
I think that makes God better than any superhero out there! I'm sure your child(ren) will agree.
3. Study the bible with them.
I think starting with the story of Genesis will help them to understand the amazing things God has done. We know that God created the earth and not man so we know that there is nothing He cannot do. Expressing this to your child(ren) shows them His abilities cannot be compared. God surpasses all human understanding. He is on a different level.
4. Enhance their abilities.
Tied into what they are extremely good at might just be where their purpose is. My daughter is multi talented, so sometimes I'm unsure of what she will be because there's just so much that she can do! However, I encourage all of her skills and I find different ways of doing so. If your child(ren) are good at mathematics, discover different ways you can use that to their advantage. Counting in the sand, counting cars when you are on the road, subtracting houses, assisting with the shopping; "how much will 10 apples cost?" Weighing and measurements when you are cooking or baking. Measuring the rooms in your house or measuring objects. Looking for shapes around the house, "what shape is a can of ....?" Looking at the sizes of trees, etc. The possibilities are endless. It is up to you as their Mother to challenge them and support them so that they can enhance their skills.
5. Praying with them.
Letting them know that prayer truly changes things. You can use stories in the bible to help with this and you can also use stories from your personal experience where God has turned things around for you. There have been conversations with Isabella-Grace and I where I've shared different times that God has changed things for us, she has never doubted God, but instead said, "God is nice!" Also, with our homeless situation, God really blessed us and gave us everything we asked for. Of course there have been other occurrences where Isabella-Grace has seen God's goodness and she knows with her heart that our God is an awesome, miracle working Father.
These are just some of the ways you can help your child(ren) to live a fruitful life and one that pleases God. Can you think of any other ways? Comment below and let's talk!
With Love,
