Christian Living: Trusting God Through The Process

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding,” - Proverbs 3:5

I have discovered that the only person that I can depend on for anything is God. I realised that I expected so much from some people because I have grand expectations and because of who I am as an individual, but when this was not reciprocated I felt really let down. I asked God why I was surrounded by people who constantly let me down and He explained that it was because I needed to depend on Him and depend on Him only.

You see the thing is, with humans we are made in God’s image, but we are not perfect as He is. We come with different flaws or distinctive characteristics and not everyone is the same. Just because you have good intentions and you are a people person, it does not mean that everyone will naturally love you. One of the hardest things in life is to know that you could have the heart to always be there for friends and loved ones, but when they are not there for you it feels like the end of the world. When really it should show us that we all have our own priorities and our own issues. Just because someone is not there for you, it does not mean that they do not care. Just as we may go through a difficult time, others surely endure their own complications, but may not necessarily communicate with us to enlighten us to their situation.

Don’t feel as if you are alone because you are not! God is always there for us and even when we feel like He has gone quiet on us, He is still listening. He knows every single detail of what we face and He counts every single tear that we shed. Try not to put too much expectations on people because they will always fail you. I often hear this saying, “she’s my ride or die!” and it makes me wonder when the going gets tough is that individual going to always be there to support you?! I have seen so many friendships fail because of several reasons; growing apart, lack of effort, lack of support and change of interests to name a few. Whereas if God was at the centre of the friendship then I believe it would have continued to blossom. However, God removes some people from our lives because they cannot go with us on our journey, but I also think that prayer and having an active relationship with God helps to make any form of relationship work (if it is God's will).

When the going gets tough and you feel that you have nobody, but God to depend on, trust Him. Cling to Him and know that He is going to bring you through this. He will never carry you to anything that is going to destroy you. We often face different trials and tribulations to develop our character and our faith because if we do not trust God, then who will we run to when everything is not going according to plan?! We need to build up our faith and trust in the Lord for He will never lead us astray. He only wants to see us holding on to Him, knowing that He is in fact the only one who can always be guaranteed to never let us down.

As Bella and I are facing a challenging time with certain circumstances beyond our control, I know that the Lord will work everything out for our good. His word states that, “if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” – Matthew 21:22.

This is a very powerful verse because it is telling us that IF we believe, meaning to trust and know that God is in control then whatever we are facing, whatever is troubling our spirits and whatever we ask God for (within reason) shall come to pass. He will do the unthinkable and take full control of the situation so that it is no more! Do you see how amazing our father in heaven is?! He wants us to know that He will take care of all our needs. We just have to believe and it is already done.

I always talk about speaking life into dead situations and this is something I do constantly. There have been times where I have just sighed and felt like, “what’s the point?!” but I snapped out of it and told that problem that it will have to bow to my Lord because of who He is. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” – 2 Corinthians 10:5

There is absolutely NOTHING that is impossible or too hard for our God to conquer, this is why He is known as the King of Kings because there is nobody before Him and certainly NOBODY above him.

I hope that this post will help you in some way to know that God is for us, He is not against us. He just wants the best for all of His children.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13

With Love,
