When You’re Feeling Discouraged.

It is not always easy to wait diligently especially when you desire something desperately with your whole heart. The wait can be so challenging and can leave you feeling hopeless, but there will always be hope dear Mama. Walking with your Heavenly Father will help you to see that the wait; although sometimes long (to us) can become easier. Reflecting on the many characters of the bible, they all had to go through a season of waiting, there was not an instant fix, but there was always a solution – God! Endurance builds strength and character. As you persevere through this life, I pray that God will give you the endurance, strength and determination to overcome all that may come your way. Wait patiently on the Lord and allow Him to do for you what nobody else can.

These are some scriptures to help you when you are feeling discouraged. God’s promises are medicine for the soul. Meditate on them, day and night and hide them in your heart. His promises are sure. Our Heavenly Father is the God who does not lie, sleep or slumber! He is working it out for you, trust Him.

“Remember the word unto thy servant, Upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: For thy word hath quickened me.” - Psalm 119:49-50.

“I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes. I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies. I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word. Mine eyes prevent the night watches, That I might meditate in thy word.” - Psalm 119:145-148.

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” - Psalm 37:7.

“I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, And in His word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord More than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.” - Psalm 130:5-6.

“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.”- Romans 4:20-21.

“Wait on the Lord: Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”

- Psalm 27:14.

“For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now He which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.” - 2 Corinthians 1:20-22.

“Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.”

- Micah 7:7.

“The Lord is righteous in all His ways, And holy in all His works. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, To all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.” - Psalm 145:17-19.

Reflection:

When you are feeling discouraged and doubtful use your journal to write down what you are encountering. Then next to each doubt write down one of God’s promises. Meditate on His promise as you pray to Him.
