Who Is In Your Support System?

Having a solid support system in place proves to be invaluable because there are times when one may require assistance with the children for whatever reason, knowing that you can depend on your support system to step in takes the burden off your shoulders.

Support systems can consist of anyone; basically, anyone who you feel will be there for you and your children. They can be male and female, it really does not matter. The important factor here is that they are reliable, and you are reassured that they will be able to support you from time to time.

It is important to note that support systems do not only offer practical help, but they also may offer invaluable life lessons and emotional support when and if needed. They are usually an amazing bunch of people who are there to cheer you on and let you know that you are doing a great job!

Let’s look at some of the common examples of who may make up a support system.

Grandparents

They have a wealth of knowledge and have been parents themselves, so they tend to know a lot about what they are talking about. My mother is great with Isabella-Grace and so is my father. They both enjoy spending time with Isabella-Grace and think that she is full of life. Bella is fond of her nanny and loves coming to visit her from time to time. My mother often offers words of advice and encouragement when I need it, in the earlier days I felt like everyone was telling me what to do with her, but as I have grown as a mother I realised that my mother has been imparting gems (wise words) and because of her I have become the mother that I am today.

Relatives

Like grandparents they make great babysitters and they are there to help you out. My family are very close and supportive with everything that we do. They are never quick to judge, but are always quick to aid in any way that they can. My siblings, cousins and aunties are the best, I cannot even begin to describe how amazing they are.

Church or other religious organisations

Dependent on your beliefs usually your religious organisations are a great port of call in all things. My church is full of warm hearted, kind and thoughtful brethren, they put others before themselves and they genuinely have so much love for others. I love that Isabella-Grace loves attending church and being in the presence of so many great people.

Friends

We all need some good friends. It does not matter how many, always remember quality over quantity. They offer a shoulder to cry on in times of need and they will always tell you the truth when you need to hear it. They have your back and will always go the extra mile for you and your children. My friends are more than just friends; they are my sisters. We go way back and the love they each have for Isabella-Grace is astounding, it truly warms my heart. I ensure that she spends a lot of time with them so that she is familiar with them and she calls them all “aunty” or “uncle” out of respect.

Childminders/Babysitters

When you are at work or require their assistance, they will be able to help to look after your child. There are so many reputable companies online such as childcare.co.uk where you can find some amazing childminders who will treat your children like the precious diamonds that they are.

Neighbours

My neighbours are great people! So much so that our children have had a few playdates together and I would not hesitate to help them out if they required my help in any way. Their little boys are energetic and such lovely little children, so Bella enjoys when they come over to play. In general I say treat everyone with kindness and they shall return the favour because you never quite know when you may need them to help you.

Teachers

Teachers are fantastic people! They sacrifice a lot of their time and efforts in helping our children to reach their full potential in life. They work tirelessly to ensure that their class is reaching all of their goals. If you have any concerns be sure to speak to them and they will surely help you out. They would like to see all of their students go on to do great things, so please work with them to ensure that this becomes a reality.
